bonfire night

There’s a moment every autumn when I suddenly realise that none of my vast collection of cozy knitted accessories is quite right. I need something new. This quick cabled cowl is the perfect solution to sudden new FO needs - it works up in a matter of hours, so it’s perfect for unexpected cold snaps, last minute holiday presents or the sure knowledge that nothing currently in your closet is suitable. Tubular cast on and bind off ensure perfectly matching edges, and the thick cable in super thick yarn makes a snuggly neck warmer you’ll wear everywhere.

Skills needed: Knitting, purling, working in the round, cabling, tubular cast on and bind off.

Sizes: Small (large), approximately 17 (22.5) in/43 (57) cm in circumference, and 10 (14) in/25.5 (35.5) cm tall.

Yarn: Lioness Arts ROAR! (100% superwash merino), 108 yds/100 g, 2 skeins. With given gauge, the cowl requires approximately 130 (218) yds/119 (200) m of bulky weight yarn.

Needles: US 11/8.0 mm 16 in/40 cm circular needle, or size needed to get gauge.

Other materials: Cable needle, spare circular needle slightly smaller then the needle used (e.g. US 10.5/7.0 mm), stitch marker for start of round, tapestry needle.
